Another Anniversary Update

Hey guys :)

First of all, I'm really impressed with how fast you managed to guess the TV show that TGCaptionBlogger and I are using as a basis for our ambitious caption series. I guess I wasn't as mystical about it as I had hoped. And apparently they weren't that many TV shows in the 1980s and 90s that offered so many options for TG episodes ;)
So yes, 'Quantum Leap' is of course the TV show that Harry and I chose to base our series on. Well done, guys! And our caption series is going to be called....'Anniversary Leap'!
But....it's not going to be a perfect copy of the show. We're using other technologies and other restrictions and freedoms in our caption series :D

And furthermore, we are only four short weeks away from the 10-year anniversary of this blog. And I'm happy to say that the preparations for the series are coming along very well.
The caption series is going to be divided into seasons (just like a real TV show). The first season is going to be a short introduction season. I've already finished writing the first two episodes and you'll probably be happy to know that the average cap count of an episode is 17.5 at the moment :D I don't know if I can keep that up, but I'll try ;)
Harry is still hard at work fleshing out some of the ideas (and generally supporting me throughout the whole process), while I'm currently working on writing the third episode, as well as preparing some organizational stuff.

And trust me when I tell you that with each day that we're getting closer to finally start sharing our caption series with you, we're getting more and more excited! We really can't wait to see your reactions to these first few episodes. Let alone to all the things that we've planned :)

Before I conclude this announcement post there's one thing I'd like to ask of you:
If you had the chance to travel back into ANY time period you want to, and be WHOEVER you want to be, what time and body would you choose?
Maybe you'd like to leave your answers in the comment section below. We'd both be super interested in hearing what you'd choose :)

Well, that's it for today. I'm gonna report back with at least another update post before the 'Anniversary Leap' series finally goes live.

Until then, best wishes to all of you!
And stay tuned :)

  1. Gosh that is hard and it would depend if it’s permeant or temporary. I kinda would like to go to 2005 and be Lindsay Lohan. Maybe I could keep her career from getting ruined and maybe setting up some little investments for a young me in the process.

    1. Great answer! But what if you leaping into Lindsay Lohan is actually what CAUSED her career to go off track? What if being a woman and especially a famous actress isn't as easy as it first seems? Especially when you find out that it's permanent. Just something to think about before you make up your mind ;)

  2. I'd be interested in going back in time to ancient egypt, where I could be Cleopatra.

    1. Very adventurous! I wonder what part of her life you would leap into. Would you want to deal with Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, or would you want to forge your own path?

  3. I'm going to guess it's an unintentional coincidence that "Quantum Leap" was called "Zurück in die Vergangenheit" in Germany. This translates back to "Back to the past".

As for the time and body, I guess if it was with todays knowledge any hottie from 80s-2000s would do. Money and fame are not needed if you know which stocks (eBay, Google, Amazon) are going to go through the roof.

I would never go back further than that, because a lot of things we take for granted today didn't exist back in the 1800s. Like a cure for polio or how the plague wiped out 25% of the population. Or how you can visit other countries by plane and not by 20 day train and 30 day boat ride.

Also if you knew about the biggest terror events would you prevent them? Although it sounds as a solid "yes", you'd change the world and thus stocks you'd invest in might drop or never rise at all. And since you only knew about the ones you took with you, there could be larger attacks which haven't gone through because of the measures taken after the ones that did happen.

If I'd travel into the future, there is probably not that much choice if events play out as I see them right now. Your best bet would be either Switzerland or the higher regions of Mexico about 300-400 years from now. The first one is high enough to not sink into the rising oceans and their democracy is probably good for another 500 years. As for Mexico, the country is currently on the rise economically and is probably not going to be participating in any open war directly, so it should also be safe from any madman on either side of the pond. With the jumps to the future though, I'd choose a child of 3-5 years old. That way you'll learn the language and technology used then and there and you won't be spotted as a person out of time. Plus the further we are in the future, the longer your life is and the prettier the people are.
